I Know What it's Like to Take a Bullet For the President ... kind of ...

So when Tegan was about two weeks old, we had quite the experience together in the middle of the night. I was changing his diaper and he was on his changing table. I leaned down to pick up something I dropped and Tegan started peeing. His body happened to be positioned in such a way that the pee made a perfect arch, landing in the middle of the room - onto the new rug I bought for his room. So at this point I was faced with a difficult decision (I didn't have anything readily available to block the pee). 1)Let him just finish and clean up the mess. Well, it was the middle of the night and I really didn't feel like cleaning the rug with vinegar and cleaner - I just wanted to go back to bed. 2)Block the pee with my own body and protect the new rug! Which one do you think happened? Yes, option #2. I literally stepped into the "line of fire" and let my child pee on me. It happened so fast, yet it also seemed like it was happening in slow motion because I remember thinking "I can't believe I'm doing this" and "I've truly arrived as a mother." Hey, it was a lot easier to just change my shirt. What an experience. I love this kid.

That is so funny! I loved it!
Teagan looks so cute, and already like a little baby! Is this about the age when they start smiling?
I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of him!

Krista you are awesome! Way to save the rug. I probably would have done the same. :)

That is very impressive. Way to take one for the team/rug. I knew I'd arrived as a mother when I ate a cold churro off the floor of my car. It was actually pretty tasty.

I love this story! I laughed so hard when you were telling me!! Anything for the rug--and for sleep! Tegan is is looking like a baby in this picture and not a newborn! Ahhh!
