More Ethanese

About one month ago, Ethan started saying, "What the ..." Please note that he does not say some explicitive or anything - he just says those two words when he is shocked about something.

Around the time Steve graduated, Steve went to the airport with Ethan to pick up my parents. The easiest way, but not necessarily the best way, is to drive along Montlake Blvd and cross the Montlake Bridge. This bridge often goes up for boats to go under - and it's worse in the summer. Traffic was awful and Steve was already late - the bridge was up. He kept saying, "this freakin' bridge," and Ethan heard him. Now, whenever we pass the bridge Ethan asks, "Mom, are we on the 'freakin' bridge?'" (Always watch what you say around your kids right!?)

We drove down to Portland over the Fourth of July. You can see two volcanoes, Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helen's, in that area. Ethan asked us about volcanoes. I explained them the best I could and even through in something about there being a lot of volcanoes around the time of the dinosaurs for extra effect. Ethan took interest in this and proceeded to tell me about his dinosaur that he has. He said, "I have a dinosaur - it's a one-eyed dinosaur - it's a pirate dinosaur - and he lives in the volcano." It may not sound funny to you, but you had to be there and I thought it was so cute.

Today he said, "Dark in the glow," instead of "Glow in the dark." Love it.

He also always mixes up his pronoun use. I can't think of an exact example, but it's adorable.

Oh I LOVE this! We hear Grace say things like that all the time - (not from me of course :) The other day she said, "What the heck!" It's hilarious to hear things come out of your 2 year old's mouth.

I hope you are getting settled into your new life. Congrats on graduating and moving! So exciting for you. Love you and miss you!
