Dear Oliver: One year ago today, you were supposed to be born. We were excited to learn that you would be a May baby. We miss you so dearly - we wish we could see you learning to walk - we wish we could see your molars forming - we wish we could hear your first words. Now there are two things we can do at least. We can wish that we'll live our lives the best we can so we can live with you again. And, we can dedicate at least one other day besides your birthday to which we can think about you and others through service. So today is the second annual day of service in honor of you, and I'm going about my business cookin' up a storm. I hope it's good enough, and I hope those I've chosen to serve in your name will enjoy a piece of goodness.

I love the post. You and Steve are a credit to your sons--both of them. I shared the story of Oliver with the codirector of the Mind/Body Medicine Institute at Harvard last week. She asked me if I would type it out and email it too her because as she put it. "I am so moved." I LOVE THE HAIR! What a surprise. I think the marker is perfect.
